Do you think the dissertation title "should the British voting age be lowered to 16" stretch to 6000 words?
It's for the extended project and I feel like doing a political one. It's not a university dissertation lol just for A level students.
I haven't put much thought into it yet because we don't even have to hand the forms in until after Easter but things I could cover would be:
-the age of consent is 16. So 16 and 17-year-olds can have sex but they can't be trusted with a vote
-they are at an age when they do a lot less moving around then 18 - 25s because they are not at uni etc so they are more affected by political decisions in their area
-but voter apathy - 18-30-year-olds are notorious for not bothering to vote so why would they?
-would the novelty just wear off?
-not counting as an adult until you turn 18, should children be involved in politics
-but are they really "children"
etcetera
so yes in your opinion is the topic broad enough to stretch to 6000 words?
In answer to my first answer "because i'm realllllllllllllly lazy" and can't think of anything 
I don't see why you shouldn't do it as a subject because after all there are campaigns for it in many countries and lots of arguments being used, it is a valid political topic.
Maybe part of your essay could be a general introduction and history of the campaign, how the political parties stand on it, which arguments they are using. Look at the website of the Votes at 16 campaign group for resources. Wiki has an interesting page on Voting Age with the ages in different countries, all the votes at 16 campaigns, and the few countries that have already put it down to 16, they include the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man so you could try to find out how it is working there.
Look up the main arguments being used for and against is what I mean and give your views on them, rather than just starting from scratch with all the arguments you can think of (unless this is what you have been asked to do for the essay).
Look too at all the other rights you have at 16, you'll find this on the Connexions website.
